Man o man! First off, I completely missed my daily blog posting goal, but whatever. I was on public radio, and as soon as I turn my back, another writer is getting hated on! Check out the image above. It's from this Amazon page for the book, "How Opal Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got a Life."
It's amazing to see the crowd turn on this kid. America loves to see people rise to the top, but not nearly as much as we love to see them fall, no, get TOSSED, down onto their ass. The reviews for this book turned on a damn dime, people! Ouchie. Doodoo.
I don't have too much to say, but I've read some interesting articles, including ones that talk about a "packaging firm" called 17th Street Productions that might have ultimately been responsible for the plagiarism, former teaching fellows dissing the author online, Harvard "gathering information" on the matter and Random House, publisher of the plagiarize-ee, rejecting the student's lame-sounding explanation.
So when am I gonna get my $500,000 book deal??
