This is an amazing day in email history for me. For the past 10 months or so, I’ve had at least 500 messages in my gmail inbox. The peak was something around 2,000, but over the past four days, I’ve handled that ish and brought it down from 1,400 to just 99!!! Go me, go me, go me! Now please, for the next few days, nobody email me ok? This is beautiful, and the only thing that can ruin it is human contact.

At last night’s Drinking Liberally, some folks and I got into a discussion of the loyalty that die hard right-wingers feel toward the Republican Party. It’s like college football. No matter what the policies of the Right are, there are people who just feel loyal to the TEAM.

My conversation with a returning US Marine
My life is really hard. A few weeks ago I was sent off to Barcelona to attend a conference for my sometime day job. I endured all day meetings and all night clubbing. Then on the return flight to Boston, I got trapped in the inevitable delay vortex that is the Philadelphia airport. I was livid. Then I met a US Marine returning from an eight month tour of duty in Iraq. Now, I love the Philadelphia Airport.
