After Barack Obama rejected public campaign financing, John McCain and conservatives criticized him for going back on his word. Shouldn't they be happy? Here we have a black man finally getting off public assistance, and the Right still isn't satisfied

DNC: Day 4. Shaking John Edwards’ hand at the hottest party

ll.jpg

Somehow I managed to get into the Rock The Vote closing party at The Roxy. Met the man behind the Washington Post’s Reliable Source, saw Antigone Rising, LL Cool J and Maroon 5 from three feet away, but most importantly, got to shake the hand of John Edwards and see Barak Obama drop in to give us a little motivation. What a convention. What a night.

DNC: Day 4, Dean proves why he made it so far

dean.jpg

Excerpt: Despite my general fan-hood of the good Doctor, I had never seen him speak live before, so I had to give it a shot. I got lucky today and managed a front row seat to the Howard Dean show. The show did not disappoint.

DNC: Day 3, New Yorkers know how to throw a party

buscemi.jpg

Today my lack of sleep started catching up to me. If I wasn’t actively talking, walking or cheering, I was dozing off. This doesn’t mean Dems are boring. It just means that ousting the occupying forces in my hometown of DC takes a lot of energy…

DNC: Day 2, We are SO going to win this one

Excerpt: After today, I can confidently say that absent some act of god (or his apparent surrogate, Dubya) John Kerry will be winning this election. This statement is based on polling data I saw yesterday, but more importantly, the incredible unity and momentum of anti-Bush forces. One year ago I said the Democrats should take a leave of absense on the 2004 election. I was wrong!

DNC: Day 1, Clinton Proves Why He’s Great

Last night Bill Clinton proved why people love him so much (and why the right hates him). I wasn’t in the Fleet Center, but I felt like he really was in my living room instead of on the tube. You should see for yourself.

DNC is worth it already

lauryn.jpg Excerpt: I was truly frustrated and was heading out of the club when I looked to the stage and saw her. Actually, I saw her afro and new immediately who it was. Lauryn Hill was about to bless the mic.

Woohoo!! I’m back on the blog baby!!

This is it. After a four year hiatus, I’m back on the blog. This week you can look forward to a lot of experimentation as well as updates from the DNC in Boston. It’s already been tight! If you’re young and in Boston, be sure to check out OurConvention.com

Quick note on the title of this blog. It’s a term created from Newspeak in George Orwell’s 1984. If you haven’t read it, go now to the library and do that, assuming your library still exists and carries it.
